Privacy Policy
Somnolence: Noise Machine does not collect, store, or share any personal information. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no trackers. The app does not connect to the internet to send your data anywhere. Everything you do in the app stays on your device.
This policy explains that in a little more detail.
Who I am
Somnolence: Noise Machine ("the app") is made by Chris Schofield ("I", "me"). If you have any questions about this policy or your privacy, you can reach me at somnolence@childishforces.com.
Information I collect
None. I do not ask for, collect, or receive:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact details
- An account or login of any kind
- Your location
- Analytics or usage statistics
- Advertising identifiers or any other tracking identifiers
- Access to your microphone, camera, photos, contacts, or health data
The app plays sounds and shows a night light. It does not need any of the above to do that, so it never asks for them.
Information stored on your device
Your preferences (such as your chosen sleep timer, night-light colour, and the toggles in Settings) are saved locally on your device using the standard iOS settings storage. This information never leaves your device, is not visible to me, and is removed if you delete the app.
No tracking and no third parties
The app contains no advertising, no analytics tools, and no third-party software development kits (SDKs) that would collect or transmit information about you. I do not sell, rent, or share data about you, because I do not have any.
Network use
The app works fully offline. It does not send your information to me or to anyone else.
If you choose to tap "Rate on the App Store", iOS opens Apple's own rating prompt or the App Store. That interaction is handled entirely by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy, and I do not receive any personal information from it.
Apple and the App Store
The app is distributed through the Apple App Store. When you download the app or interact with the App Store, Apple may process information according to Apple's Privacy Policy. This is outside my control, and I do not receive personally identifiable information from Apple about you.
Children's privacy
Somnolence: Noise Machine is designed to help parents and carers soothe babies and young children, but it is intended to be set up and controlled by an adult. The app does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children. Because I collect no data at all, I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country).
Your rights
Because I do not collect or hold any personal data about you, there is nothing for me to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. Any preferences stored on your device can be cleared at any time by deleting the app.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (Europe/UK) or the CCPA (California). Those rights apply to personal data a company holds about you. I hold none, so there is nothing to request. If you have a question anyway, you are welcome to contact me.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, I will update the "Last updated" date above and post the revised version. Since the app does not collect data, I expect any changes to be minor.
